To ensure that graduates of Eastern possess imporant communication skills, the faculty and Board of Regents have approved a University Writing Requirement (UWR). All students seeking baccalaureate degrees from Eastern, including transfer students, must successfully complete an essay exam in English.

 Baccalaureate degree students must take the exam in the first semester of enrollment after completing the 60th credit hour. Transfer students who transfer 60 credit hours or more must take the exam in the first semester of enrollment.
