Doppel Award for Undergraduate Students
Deadline: December 1
Theme: Any interpretation of doppelgangers, doubling, or "the Other"

Agatha Award for Graduate Students
Deadline: March 1
Theme: Mystery-may be interpreted broadly

Form for both contests: any, including free verse, prose poem, and experimental and traditional forms
Line limit for both contests: 60 lines
Prize for both contests: $100
Judge: Dr. Christine Delea

Winning poems will be published in Aurora. Poems will be judged on originality, word play, imaginativeness, and adherence to theme. Award winners will be notified within a month after deadline.

To submit:

  • Submit 1-3 poems
  • Typed, single-spaced poems
  • Two copies-one with name and contact information, one without any identification
  • Contact information-name, school and permanent address, phone number and email
  • Place in an envelope
  • Mark envelope "Poetry Award" and specify which contest
  • Mark envelope with graduation date and name
  • Submit to Young Smith, 395 Case Annex
  • Submissions must be in hand by noon on the due date
  • If the due date falls on a weekend, submissions must be in by noon on the following Monday

This contest is open to any EKU student.

Prize may not be awarded if no entry is deemed worthy.
