3. Who takes the UWR?
As of spring 2007 Board of Regents action, those students entering Eastern Kentucky University as a degree seeking student in the summer 2006 term, or later, in pursuit of a
bachelor's degree, are no longer required to complete the UWR.
Regarding those students for whom it is still necessary to complete the UWR, the following policy applies: Baccalaureate degree students must take the exam in the first semester
of enrollment after completing the 60th credit hour and ENG 102. Transfer students entering prior to summer 2006 who transfer 60 credit hours or more must take the exam.
All full or part time continuing students or students who have been readmitted to the University after being out for at least two academic years are not required to complete the UWR.
All Teacher Certification students must take the UWR. Students with previously earned baccalaureate degrees need not write the UWR unless they are completing teacher certification.
Information about the UWR can be found at www.testing.eku.edu
Note that CARES Reports will correctly indicate whether a student needs to take the UWR based on the requirements stated above.
