17. What are the consequences of failing the UWR exam?
If you do not register for, take, and pass the exam, your progress toward graduation is restricted and eventually halted.
Failure can prevent you from graduating on time or even from graduating at all.
After 60 hours you may not enroll for more than 12 credit hours in any semester until you pass the UWR. If you are enrolled in a writing class, your dean may in some instances give permission for 13 hours.
After you have 100 credit hours, you may not enroll for further courses toward your degree until you pass the UWR. However, you may be allowed to take a writing course.
These consequences apply if you fail the UWR; if you do not register for the UWR when you are first eligible and every subsequent semester until you pass it; or if you do not show up when you are registered to take the UWR.
