LINKS TO OTHER KENTUCKY LITERATURE SITES
This ever-growing list of independently-maintained links will
always welcome new submissions. If you're aware of a link we should
have here, please send it to Sherry Robinson.
Thanks.
Garry Barker
This collection of Barker's "Head of the Holler" columns is interesting.
I especially like the "Links You'll Like" section.
Terry Bisson
Born in Owensboro, this SF writer (and winner of the Hugo and Nebula Awards) offers
many free reads on his site. It's one of the best fan sites I've seen, because
it gives you access not just to biographical or critical information, but to the
works themselves. Thanks, Terry.
Michael Embry
Mr. Embry, the executive editor of Kentucky
Monthly magazine, does this site himself; it's full of
information about his fiction and non-fiction work.
Barbara Kingsolver
HarperCollins created and maintains this official site for Barbara
Kingsolver. The "Dialogue" section, with Ms. Kingsolver
responding to questions from readers, is a very nice touch, even
if the formatting is confusing.
George Ella Lyon
This site, done by her publisher, links to commentary on a few texts, but primarily
links to Amazon so that you may buy most of her books. While the information here
isn't particularly insightful, you can use this as a one-stop shop for purchasing
Lyon's texts.
Bobbie
Ann Mason
This site was created by a class at Eastern Illinous University.
It's brief, but gets to the salient facts. The links are good,
if a bit academic.
Sharyn McCrumb
This ambitious site will evntually be a good resource, as soon as they figure
out how to run a java applet and get pictures to load at the same time.
Gwyn Rubio
If you liked Icy Sparks, this good-looking site is for
you. It's focused on Rubio's biggest seller, so don't look for
much info on anything else she's written.
Sarabande
Books
This nonprofit literary press located in Louisville publishes
quality poetry, essays, and short fiction. Founded in 1994 as
an alternative to mainstream publishing, it strives to provide
talented authors with a final product and visibility, in short,
a real "home" for their work.
Frank C. Strunk
The author of Jordan's Wager, Jordan's Showdown
and Throwback (crime novels set in eastern Kentucky) keeps
his own site. The "Recommended Reading" section promises
to be a boon for aspiring authors.
